For 31 years, from 1959 to 1990, hundreds of ruggers, families and fans gathered each spring in Monterey, CA for the Monterey Rugby Tournament, two days of rugby, comrardarie and excitement that included many of the best rugby teams in the U.S., and in later years, top international teams. That event epitomized what sport should be, great competition and sport without high priced tickets, commercials, booth reviews and overpaid, self centered players. There was no greater weekend for a rugby fan than those two days on the Monterey Peninsula.

With nearly 40 h.s. boys and girls clubs in Michigan we need this kind of positive visability to keep rugby growing in Michigan & the Midwest. High school ranks have more clubs than any other category and we add 4 to 5 teams per year. Three cheers for Sylvain and his team of dedicated film makers. Keep up the good work!!!

Hopefully, this will work better than "Forever Strong" - I look forward to seeing it!!!

Great idea, best of luck, i hope it helps to further awaken the giant. The highlights of of the national 7s are great too.

With 7's looking very good for Olympic inclusion, now is the time to get in front of our schools again.
Here in the Northeast, there was a rise in Rugby activity at the end of the 90's but it seems to have petered out with the demise of the economy. How is Lacrosse on TV and not SuperRugby?

Please don't forget the 80's and 90's when a number of gentlemen carried a torch that flickered but was still lit. Guys like Swords, James, Billups, Lyle, Beekley, Scharrenberg (sp), Still, O'Boyle, and all the northern california tongans who played individual matches.

Can't wait to see the rest. Thanks for doing this.

Its a great idea i hope it works. I for one would love to see the united states participate fully in rugby.

Its a great sport that unites the team like no other.

What footage is in the film regarding the American female rugby athletes? If clips/stories are not a part of the film, how would they be represented on the website?

Also, insofar as the Olympics are concerned, it seems the rugby gate is swinging open far more quickly in large due to the Olympic Committee's commitment to gender equity and the continual rise of the female athlete in 7s rugby. That tale seems an effective and logical loop to parallel the start of the film about the 1920s USA Rugby World Champions.

(I know there have been more recent articles in Australian and other world press, but this one was a link from the USA Rugby homepage.)

We'd like to hear your feedback, questions, suggestions. Thanks !
